Default [Blog] A reminder to Train2Game students about the benefits of modding

The free UDK modding tool has now passed 800,000 downloads since its launch. So, it seems to be a good time for a reminder about how important modding can be for those looking to get into the games industry.

Find out more here on the Train2Game blog.

Have you considered modding? Will you try out UDK? Or perhaps you’ve modded already and if so, what have you produced?

Leave your comments on the Train2Game blog, or here on the Train2Game forum.

I'm currently watching TheNewBoston tutorial videos on how to use the UDK engine.

For all those who maybe interested in starting to learn, here is a link to get started, as Danny said "UDK IS FREE!" and so are these tutorial videos.

The vids on the UDK site are straight from 3D Buzz, abso-bloomin'-tastic videos those are though I'll check these out by The New Boston.

3D buzz are great as well, but I'm going to stick with my guns on this.

I'm pleased you've all embraced modding. In my yet to be published final part of the Red Faction Game Designer interview, Jameson Durall states modding is an excellent way for those aspiring to get into the games industry to acquire hands on experience. That'll come in part 3 of the interview. Part 1 is here.

i dont actually know what a udk is or what it does. whats the chance of t2g creating a small online manual explaining some of the key points and basics in other courses that might clear things up for people like myself who have no idea what people on other courses are/will be capable of doing and how they tie in with the course area you are studying.

Side note. Been watching Bucky's tutorials since the beginning of the course and its helped quite a lot. Was on the new boston forum too but not been on for some time
