    nice one mr A,

sounds like light the skies made quite an impression. Can't wait to see how it all pans out.

    LOL at Kitty.

You're new to the artists course so I'll forgive you this once, but as you progress through the arts course and your introductory book you'll read all about what Ivan's said on there, and for all I'm not knocking Ivan as he is quite correct in what he's saying there, it is effectively the role of the artist and the designer to work together to come up with the theme and the style of the game, regardless of the size of the game or the team who are putting it together.

In the case of a small team or where there is only one or two artists involved then it should be agreed with everyone which direction you're heading, pretty much in the way that different developers will work together in producing code for a game, you wouldn't have two developers writing code in different formats and using different variable names for common objects, they would have to decide between themselves what they were using and stick to a set pattern. As is the case with artists. For a larger team, an art bible or style guide would be created (in a vaguely similar fashion to a game design document) in which all game graphics are to adhere to and before any are passed and used within the game they have to be presented to and signed off by the project/team leader.
