So there is going to be a Game Jam this year, however this is by students, for students.

    Welcome to Game Marmalade.

Over the May Bank Holiday I will be holding an event for teams to make an app, over a 3 day period. The event will start at 12 noon on Friday 27th May 2016 and will end on Monday 30th May 2016.

Teams of no more than 4 are welcome to register by sending me an email with who will be in your team, their email address and a suggestion as to what app they would like to make. slinky.dink68@outlook.com.

Each team will get a channel, in my channel on Teamspeak and it's basically up to your team to make the app which is chosen at random, from the suggestions entered by each team on registration.

It would be nice to get as many people as possible involved in this as it will be a good opportunity to make something for your portfolio.

This comes to you with encouragement from Black Knight Sprite, Psybergamer and Mr Green (sorry Dadpool but you were away at the time lol).

Really nice there's been a bit of interest in 'Game Marmalade' already and I've spoken to Matt to get some more info, but now I need a bit of input from my fellow students. In past Jam's instead of making a certain app, a source of inspiration has been used (a sound, a word, a phrase or something similar) and the teams are free to take things wherever they like.

Personally I like the sound of this as it opens up many more avenues and gives people total freedom in where they take things. However I'd like to know your thoughts on which option you think would work best - make an certain app or use a source of inspiration and take it wherever you like. It's up to you guys, you choose.

Also if there's anyone out there who thinks they might find it difficult forming a team, send me your name, contact details, the course you're doing and any other skills you have to offer and I'll put you in touch with people in a similar situation. The same goes for partial teams, let me know and I'll put you in touch with people who are looking.

This is still a work in progress and I'm happy to consider all ideas. So please feel free to leave your thoughts, comments or questions here or come for a chat in Teamspeak. I'd like everyone to get involved as this is for students, by students and all input is welcome.

    Update 24th Feb 2015

So the feedback I've had so far appears to be that people might have difficulties getting teams together for Game Marmalade. So to help out with this I'm going to run Team Building sessions in my channel, every Friday, between 7pm to 9pm, from now until Marmalade starts. And when I say Team Building, I don't mean in the corporate lets do some trust exercises sense, I mean those looking to form a team come to the channel and meet other students looking to form a team as well.

    How to find my channel.
