Thread: Unauthorised login attempt to my account.

  1. #1

Default Unauthorised login attempt to my account.

I just received a failed login attempt message to my email inbox. I have not tried to log in to this account for a very long time so my assumption is that this is someone trying to hack their way into my account. I do not recognize the IP. The message was as follows:

    Dear Dean The Deshar,

Someone has tried to log into your account on Train2Game Forum - Games Design, Development, Art and QA Courses with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 85.214.11.209

    All the best,
Train2Game Forum - Games Design, Development, Art and QA Courses
I like to be different, just like everyone else.

The admin plugin catches it and stops it, just to be safe though it might be worth changing your password.

    Hi All

As CW explained, the Admin software grabs these silly people. What happens, as a courtesy, is the 'send a report to the user' box is ticked just so you know as well.
Regretably, as not all students, including those living in the UK, connect via a UK IP address. Some do so from work which means some have European and/or US IPs. So I can't really tighten things further as many of the attempts come from US IPs.
Since we updated to this system, about five years ago, nothing has been compromised and further our black lists and registration system has seen an almost zero level of spamming.
