thanks everyone for all you help and advice... it has been very informative! I will ofcourse keep browsing the forums seeing what everyone is up to. I'm not sure what my immediate plans are going to be, but I think I'm gonna hold off the course until I get a bit more experience in coding, just to make life a little bit easer for me haha!

Thanks again and good luck to everyone in the course, this forum is a prime example of what the games industry community is like.

Glad to hear you have gathered some useful information.

As others say, the courses are designed to be approachable by people with no previous coding experience. But it wouldn't hurt to try a little bit of coding or scripting (in any language really) to see if working with code and busting logic problems etc in general appeals to you

Also I like to think this forum is an example of what some of the best bits of the games industry community is like, some people you may encounter are much less helpful than the guys and gals on here, but we are generally a nice bunch!

I signed up in December and have no previous C++ experience but i have learnt allot already, if your going to do a bit of coding before hand i would also recommend going to www.yoyogames.com and try out the game maker software which is free and also provides some nice tutorials.
I found using game maker is easy and fun while also teaching you some basics of game making using simple drag and drop tools or you could use code.

What is C# and is it going to be relevent to me and also useful when it comes to doing the Developer course?
C# is a high level language that is more commonly used to develop tools and applications. It is very rarely used for commercial games as the only platforms that has an official C# compiler is the X360 and PC. C++ is the current mainstream language in the industry so unless you are planning to do tools programming, most of your focus should be on C++.

However, it is quite highly favoured in the IT software development industry in a similar way to Java as the development speed is very quick compared to languages like C++.
