Well im over a year away from this point but i would be interested to know what are the benefits for doing both ? are they both equally respected by potential employers ? or dose doing one or other give some benefits for doing other courses ?

This has definitely cleared things up for me that weren't explained to me fully or very well. I'll be doing both :-) Thank you so much for the heads up!

C&G is a recognised qualification, the world over, in and out of the games industry.
The TIGA diploma is yet to prove itself, even within the UK - that doesn't mean it's "bad", just it hasn't been around long enough to set a standard.

It's horses for courses, but as Peter said C&Gs are very well respected globally - says he who has seven of them, five work ones and two fun ones. The later being for HAM Radio licensing/regs and the associated one for radio theory :-)

Hi I'm looking to start one of the artist ans animator courses. Just wondering if I will get the city and guild qualification. Who I spoke to was vague about what I would get. Didn't think I could do a course at level 6 and 7 as I have only just finished 6th form.

So it seems doing the C&G is the best way to go but then TIGA might become more recognised by the time of finishing the course hrmm if I get to change course from Qa to Game dev I think when I get to choose I might as well pick both and then focus on the C&G as that has a limit but the TIGA does not so finish the C&G then go onto TIGA

Just in case anybody wondered I was able to change course I sent an email and then got a letter sent through to me today, you do have to pay extra for the course change but since I had been on the QA course for a bit over a year now I am surprised I was allowed to change over but I am incredibly happy I have been allowed as I'll now be doing something I am motivated for

Which QA course were you on previously? There is at least one of the QA courses which is cheaper than the Dev/ Design/ A&A, so the additional cost may have just been to make up the difference, and not to actually change courses.

Ah yes that is what I was told sorry I am on just the normal QA course and yes it was just to make the difference luckily not having to pay in full for a new course though thank goodness, I should have specified
