Well the test cycle is done on every build QA recieves.
So other test like soak wouldn't necessary be part of the cycle but would be after beta.
It's more a high end overview of how QA works..

ahh i see, so the level of testing that occurs is dependant on the build the QA receives, and what specific items get tested are defined in the test plan itself. this is good stuff, really helpful.

Well it depends on a lot
    Pre-alpha just general problems really
Post-alpha roll out the test plan and start on the major functions
Post -beta more test plan and submission checks

I'd say soak and load testing would be post beta would hurt to do one or two for beta.

And all of that changes depening on the game, platform and features

Awesome thread guys, I have found this section quite a stuggle but reading this has helped. It's a lot easier to understand this thread than the example in the book.

    Cheers!

Yeah I'm sort of in talks with T2G about updating this area, but these things take time and they never sent me an NDA so...

Hope things are as well laid out in the remaining course books as your examples are. I'm on the verge of giving up n just making the monthly payments til its paid. Theres so many sma questions I haven't even completed cause its not explained good enough or it just doesn't click.

Well if you have any Q's open a thread and ask.
I and I'm sure the other developers hanging around will try our best to answer em.

That or buy my book if I ever get it done

Thank you Darklights for that excellent guide to test plans from a game perspective, soooo much better presented than the confusing rubbish in the handbook, reading that I had literally NO idea what it was on about, but thanks to your detailed example I at least now have the basis to begin preparing one for SMA 7-4.

One request: The example you very kindly uploaded to Megaupload... well, sadly that site has been seized by the overbearing powers of the US federal authority, would it be possible to upload it again to another similar file sharing site? I always feel the best way to learn anything is from an actual, real-life example in front of me, I'm sure many other students would agree!
