Games tester (6 month contract) job at Neon Play (Cirencester, Gloucestershire).

Hi,
I am currently on work placement at a fast-rising mobile games developer called Neon Play, based in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Today a 6 month (full time, paid) contract games testing job on their site, so I thought it would be a good idea to post it up on here having studied the T2G art course.

The job posting is as follows:

While extensive testing experience is ideal, it is not strictly necessary and a little testing experience combined with enthusiasm and additional transferable skills is welcome and there will be a chance to learn and train with the testing team.
Testing will cover such areas as the user interface, menu items, inspecting the 3D assets for errors, gameplay, progression, and all other non-gameplay areas in addition to the game itself. Diligence and the ability to commit to repetitive tasks will be required in these roles.
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written English skills as you will be required to communicate with staff from all disciplines (both technical and non-technical) and to write clear bug reports.
- Self-motivation and enthusiasm.
- Diligence in conducting sometimes-repetitive tests and bug isolation.
- Ability to quickly learn new software tools.
- Knowledge of current generation games and hardware.
- Knowledge and use of mobile platforms (such as iOS and Android)
- Previous experience of software testing (including mobile and/or social games)
Desirable additional skills/experience:
- Experience of software testing on several different titles.
- Familiarity with testing on the iOS and Android platforms.
- Experience in using bug-tracking and test management tools.
- Experience testing in an Agile environment.
- Understanding of and design of Test Cases.
- Working knowledge of a programming or scripting language.

A couple of important things:
- Only apply if you are very confident that you have been learning QA long enough to be skilled enough to check off all of the requirements list.

Just seen the below article regarding Unity's changes to it's licenses for mobile developers. It's not the Pro version, but even on free, building to Android and iOS would have cost you $400 per license, so this is great news for indies!

Custom Minecraft Game

I'm working on a level/map in Minecraft which I want to turn into a PvP multiplayer game, a free-for-all/king of the hill/capture the flag/puzzle type game.

I realise that any custom restrictions/ mechanics will have to be made server-side, but once these are done, I could create a number of different iterations of maps that could have this new game type applied to.

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for what I would need to learn/procure to make this happen? Any hints or tips would be very much appreciated.

How are the courses?

A little question!!!

Just out of interest , with the ever increasing popularity in social media sites like Facebook, Twitter etc…. and mobile apps like wattsapp, kik etc, with ever increasing numbers using both mediums or one more than the other, if you had an idea for a social media application, which route would you take?
Would you develop it for mobile or website base?? (and that goes for gaming aswell would you develop a game just for mobile or through for example a site like facebook???)
